I was advised by a Solidworks representative that either Mastercam or Solidcam are the best products as far a compatibility with Solidworks.

The important thing is to make sure they are not something freshly cut from a sawmill. They do need to be well dried to get good results for CNC use.

My main interest for a CNC router is to make signs and 3d wood carvings. Its time to upgrade from my scroll saw. A working space of 15" - 24" would be within my specs of what i would use this machine for.

Aspire can import many 3D file formats including .STL. . OBJ, .3DM, .SKP and maybe a few more. I don't know solidworks so you'll have to see what it's export formats include.

WEBOct 2, 2021 · My old CNC Shark has an option for using a probe to make a 3D file by doing a grid pattern over any 3D shape. You can set how big the grid steps are, of course the smaller/tighter the grid the longer it takes to scan. The 3D grid mesh it creates can be saved as an .STL file if I remember correctly.
Drilling holes with a CNC Router
WEBJul 13, 2015 · Just don't use the drill bit for anything other than 1/8" holes. On a CNC milling machine you would use a canned drill program for each hole it involves pecking the bit. I make cribbage boards with 150 to 600 holes in each one with V-Carve and Mach3. As Rob pointed out, use the pecking feature of V-Carve.
