Easy half mile out and back to a cascade - I'm not sure I'd call it a falls - along the beautiful Deschutes river. Easy path through the forest along the river with the lava fields on the other side.Full review by Rheinhold F

Although we tried to walk the trail last week, there was a train stalled at the crossing, so we were unable to complete our plan. However, we did take trails from the Lava Lands Center up Lava Butte and had beautiful views of the Cascades!

Q:
Can you drive to parking area in the winter or is the road closed?
A:
I would not recommend trying to visit the falls in the winter. The roads are not plowed for access to the falls. Years ago I tried and almost got stuck in the snow.
Q:
Is it dog friendly
A:
Yes. On a leash.
Q:
Is the paved trail wide enough to accommodate a burley bike trailer?
A:
Like a trailer with kids in it? You could definitely pull one of those kid two seater trailers on the trail. One the trail turns into dirt though it may get a little harder.
