If you have booked seats and know your carriage I would probably be at the station about 20 /30min before departure to find the platform and queue up. There are signs on the platform where to wait depending on which car or carriage you are in and there are markings on the platform where one queues up. All very orderly. Once you are in the line you just need to wait for the train to arrive. It is very punctual. Hope that helps and happy travels.

A couple of questions: 1) Do reservations get snatched up or is there generally room on the rail? We're a party of two looking to travel Taipei to Taichung 12/27, and Taichung to Tainan 12/29. 2) On the mobile app registration, it asks for a Taiwan ID #. What do people use? I've tried a generic A11111111C as a stand-in but that didn't work.
