The European Union and the United Kingdom announced new sanctions targeting Russia’s “shadow fleet” after a friendly call between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The 17th set of European sanctions imposed on Russia since its invasion of Ukraine on Feb.

Donald Trump offered Vladimir Putin “large-scale trade” with the US after the war in Ukraine is over, following a two-hour phone call between the two men. Mr Trump said ceasefire negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will start immediately after his “excellent” phone call with the Russian president.

President Trump also spoke with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders in hopes of making progress toward a ceasefire.
