A Savannah man convicted this week on federal charges in connection to rigging his wife's car to explode has died in custody. Barry Wright, 57, was taken into custody back in July 2019, days after a car burst into flames on Columbus Drive at Reynolds Street.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says that the man accused of setting off an explosive device in his ex-wife’s car five years ago has been found guilty.

Barry Wright, the man accused of detonating an explosive in his ex-wife’s car in July 2019, died in custody at the Liberty County Jail.

Barry Wright, who was found guilty on Tuesday of causing his ex-wife’s car to explode, has died in custody. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) reports that Wright died on Thursday while in custody at Liberty County Jail.
