A Winter Storm Watch was issued Wednesday afternoon and it will last through Saturday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch ahead of this weekend’s wintry mix of storms overnight Friday in our entire viewing area.

Areas in the north Georgia mountains will see between 3-6 inches of snow with locally higher amounts possible farther north into the mountains. Snowfall totals of 1-2 inches will be common around I-20 with 0.1-0.25 inch of ice possible. The northern suburbs in metro Atlanta will see between 2-3 inches of snow.

A Winter Storm Watch is put in place when snow, sleet or ice is possible and there is at least a medium confidence in the probability of heavy snowfall, sleet or freezing rain that will have a significant impact. A watch is declared if the criteria is expected to be met within the next 2 to 3 days.
