Republicans won a majority in the House of Representatives, clearing the way for comprehensive crypto legislation when Congress takes off next year.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's Republicans on Tuesday inched closer to winning a majority in the House of Representatives and with it full control of Congress, which would give Trump power to advance his agenda when he returns to the White House in January.

If Republicans keep the House majority, that would give the party control of all three branches of government after the GOP won control of the U.S. Senate and Donald Trump won the presidential election.

Control of the House has yet to be determined, but Republicans are operating as if they've secured the majority.

With the results of several races outstanding, it remains to be see which party will control the House of Representatives after Election Day on Nov. 5.
