Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) major and Tesla's global rival VinFast is set to make India a global export hub eyeing markets like West Asia and Africa, with the first phase of its $2 billion facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, expected to be operational by mid-2025, a senior company executive has said.

VinFast has officially debuted in the Indian market, unveiling its first electric vehicles, the VF 7 and VF 6, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.

Electric vehicle maker VinFast Auto Ltd. said it plans to begin selling two made-in-India cars in the South Asian country later this year, marking the Vietnamese carmaker’s debut in the world’s third-biggest car market.

Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer Vinfast planned to capture the Indian market with two high-end electric SUVs, competing against local competitor Mahindra & Mahindra and China's BYD, which is already established in the world's third largest automotive market.
