A Kid's Beach Ball Drop will be held at 8 p.m., followed by more live music leading up to the main Beach Ball Drop at midnight. Fireworks will be launched over the Russell-Fields Pier.
The 40th Beach Ball Classic is scheduled to be held next month on its traditional dates of Dec. 26-31, and area residents will have a chance to catch the action at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
Another beach ball drop, with fireworks, was held at the traditional time of midnight. Live music was headlined by Taylor Shines — The Laser Spectacular.
Former New York City playground and prep star Kenny Anderson was voted the No. 1 all-time Beach Ball player by sponsors, observers and fans in attendance in 2010.
