CNN boss Mark Thompson reportedly plans to announce mass layoffs Thursday – just days after he warned top on-air talent including Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper that they ought to avoid “pre-judging” President Donald Trump.

CNN, a unit of Warner Bros Discovery, plans to lay off hundreds of employees this week, as it refocuses the business around a global digital audience, CNBC reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

CNN is expected to unveil significant staffing cuts as soon as Thursday, according to three people familiar with the matter, as CEO Mark Thompson continues to plot a new emphasis on digital content. A CNN spokesperson could not be reached for immediate comment.
