An arrest affidavit shows Dallas Police officers initiated a high-speed pursuit only after a known capital murder suspect pushed a woman out of an SUV and onto Interstate 35E before speeding away.

Family members are suing the city of Dallas for the wrongful death of a man while police chased a murder suspect. They say they want to prevent this kind of thing from happening again.

ELLIS COUNTY – An innocent victim died and two people were hospitalized Thursday after Dallas police were involved in a shooting following a chase and two-vehicle crash on I-35E in Ellis County, authorities said. It happened Thursday morning on I-35E southbound at Red Oak Road, in northern Ellis County.

Anthony Welch was driving on I-35E near Red Oak when he was crashed into by a suspect who was leading Dallas officers on a pursuit.

The family of Anthony Welch, an innocent man killed because of a high-speed police chase, is suing the City of Dallas. They hope the lawsuit will prevent similar tragedies.
