A high alert was issued after Multan, largest city in Pakistan's Punjab province, recorded an abnormally high Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of over 2,000, reported Dawn.Parks, museums and schools across Punjab were declared to be closed until November 17 to deal with unprecedented and dangerous levels of pollution.

Multan is currently the world's most polluted city, with smog reaching hazardous levels, forcing authorities to implement emergency measures while residents face a severe health crisis.

LAHORE: Multan topped Pakistan’s most polluted cities for the second consecutive day on Saturday, with the air quality index (AQI) reaching 1,914 in the early hours.
