Nashville and Middle Tennessee could see less snow than the 6-8 inches originally expected Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter storm warning has been issued for all of Middle Tennessee. While most areas could receive between three to six inches of snow on Friday, some areas could see as much as seven inches.

Friday's highly anticipated weather event is finally here, with Upstate residents stepping outside their homes to take in the region's first snowfall in three years. Although snowfall is projected to only be 1 to 3 inches in total (and upward of 4 inches toward the mountains),

Travel is anticipated to become "very difficult" by the mid to late morning and although much of the snow will move out by midnight, travel impacts will continue through the weekend.

Friday's snowstorm is expected to bring around six inches of snow to Knoxville, significantly impacting traffic in the region.
