Evan Sidery of Forbes recently reported that Houston "conducted exploratory trade talks" with the Portland Trail Blazers regarding center Robert Williams III. Williams, who is averaging 5.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in a decreased role this season, is on the trade block as the Trail Blazers look to rebuild with a 15-28 record.
Despite the injury history, Portland is drawing trade interest for their backup center. The Houston Rockets are in contact with the Trail Blazers and have had “exploratory” trade talks. Houston is openly shopping Jock Landale’s non-guaranteed multi-year contract. Parting ways with Landale would help the Rockets upgrade their frontcourt.
Portland will try to end its four-game slide when the Portland Trail Blazers take on Houston. The teams meet Saturday for the first time this season.
