Before becoming the Lakers' head coach, JJ Redick had a chance to become a Celtics assistant coach under Joe Mazzulla.

LOS ANGELES — JJ Redick is midway through his first season as Lakers coach in his first NBA coaching experience. Two years before taking that job, Redick gave strong consideration towards joining Joe Mazzulla’s coaching staff in Boston after Ime Udoka’s suspension at the start of the 2022-23 season.

Mazzulla tried to hire Redick on as a Celtics assistant in September 2022. Redick has since shifted from working in the media to coaching the Lakers.

Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick explained how he almost joined Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla's staff.

It's unclear whether the team was dealing with the aftereffects of the Clippers game, or simply regressing back to bad habits that have plagued it over the past month, but the Celtics did not put up much of a fight against the Lakers.

JJ Redick picked up arguably his biggest win in his early coaching career as the Los Angeles Laker blew out the Boston Celtics on Friday night. Redick praised the Lakers for their execution of the defensive gameplan and for good reason as they managed to hold the Celtics to only 96 points.

JJ Redick, suffice to say, was not too pleased with how the Lakers performed on Tuesday night in a nightmare outing vs. the 76ers.
