Wisconsin state leaders are racing to pass a new state budget to lock in hospital funding before President Donald Trump signs into law a federal bill.

(AP) -Wisconsin Democratic Gov. Tony Evers and Republicans who control the state Legislature announced a deal Tuesday on a new two-year budget that cuts income taxes, increases funding for the Universities of Wisconsin despite a threatened cut and raises taxes to pay for transportation projects.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has signed a two-year, $60 billion budget that sets aside $600 million in unclaimed funds for a new Browns stadium.

Of the substantial 67 state budget provisions Gov. Mike DeWine vetoed, three protected his successors’ authority. DeWine vetoed three provisions to protect governors’ powers in Ohio: one that would limit which flags could be hung on state-owned buildings and two provisions regarding the next biennial budget cycle.
