Jacob Fearnley 's fine Australian Open debut ended with a straight-sets loss to second seed Alexander Zverev in the third round. The Scot continues to take the upper levels of the professional game comfortably in his stride and he did not look out of place against one of the tournament favourites on Margaret Court Arena.

Alexander Zverev heaped praise on Jacob Fearnley after beating the rising British tennis star 6-3 6-4 6-4 at the Australian Open on Friday. British No.3 Fearnley enjoyed a remarkable run to the third round at Melbourne Park this year at his first overseas Grand Slam tournament.

Jacob Fearnley has reached the third round of the 2025 Australian Open on his main draw debut in a dream run for the rising British tennis star. Fearnley, who impressively eliminated Nick Kyrgios in the opening round, defeated French world No.78 Arthur Cazaux 3-6 7-5 6-2 6-3 on Wednesday.
