Gibbs claimed her prize in mid-January, almost a month after she won $110,000 in a Dec. 23 drawing. She was at the Fairway One Stop convenience store in Greensboro when she spent $1 on her lucky ticket, lottery officials wrote in a news release.

A lottery player was “on a roll” when checking his recent tickets, but he was still shocked when one revealed he was going to become a multi-millionaire. Everett Harris won the first $8 million top prize in the $8 Million Money Maker scratch-off game, which debuted in December, the North Carolina Education Lottery said Jan. 14.

A ticket sold in New Jersey won $1 million in Saturday night's Powerball, according to the Powerball website. The ticket matched all five white balls to win the million-dollar prize. The New Jersey Lottery announced Monday that the winning ticket was sold at the ShopRite supermarket on Beaverbrook Road in Lincoln Park (Morris County).
