A female pygmy hippopotamus was born at the Metro Richmond Zoo Dec. 9, the zoo announced Christmas Eve. The public is now invited to vote on her name.

The baby hippo, a girl who has not yet been named, was born to parents Iris and Corwin at Metro Richmond Zoo on Dec. 9. She's their third female calf in under five years. The zoo said Iris was all smiles on Christmas morning.

A female pygmy hippopotamus at the Metro Richmond Zoo has welcomed a new addition to her family. On December 9, Iris, the mother hippo, gave birth to a healthy female calf after a seven-month gestation period.
