Independent MLA candidate Naresh Meena was arrested following high drama and violence on Thursday, a day after he slapped an SDM during polling in Rajasthan`s Tonk district and set in motion differing protests from both his supporters and Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officials.

The bypolls in Tonk, Rajasthan turned violent after Naresh Meena confronted SDM Amit Chaudhary, leading to unrest and 60 arrests. Supporters engaged in stone-pelting and arson, causing extensive damage to vehicles.

A violent clash erupted in the Deoli-Uniara assembly constituency of Rajasthan’s Tonk district on Wednesday, following an alleged assault on the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Amit Chaudhary, by Independent candidate Naresh Meena at a polling station.
