The Ojai City Council in California unanimously voted to permanently ban the sale and use of glue traps in their community.

Even Congress had a bill that would ban the sale, distribution and use of glue traps nationwide. The bill, HR 7018, is known as the Glue Trap Prohibition Act of 2024.

Ojai is following in West Hollywood's footsteps in prohibiting the sale and use of glue traps, which are meant for rodents but often ensnare other forms of wildlife.

More than 100 species including birds, bats, chipmunks, turtles, rabbits and flying squirrels have been caught in the traps and transported to animal hospitals in need of life-saving care, Shaw said.
