The current eruption of Kilauea volcano has paused as of Friday morning, following a period of activity that began on Sunday 15.

The Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii has erupted again this week in a national park, prompting gas warnings from officials. Kilauea erupted briefly Sunday night in a section of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park that remains off-limits to the public.

A new Kilauea eruption began in a remote area of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park on Sunday, Sept. 15. This is the first eruption on Kilauea’s middle East Rift Zone (MERZ) since 2018 and it poses no immediate threat to life or infrastructure.
