The New York Times’ Tech Guild built their own versions of Crossword, Wordle, and Connections to help support their ongoing strike.

The New York Times Tech Guild is striking for a contract—which they’ve been negotiating for more than two years. New York Times tech workers are still on strike after walking out one day before the presidential election.

The NYT tech workers who are currently on strike are asking readers not to play its games. So they made their own versions that people can play.

Striking NYT tech workers launched a page with strike-themed games and recipes, urging supporters to skip NYT puzzles and apps in solidarity with their cause.

Times Tech Guild workers walked off the job on Monday and intend to picket from 9 a.m. EST to 6 p.m. EST each day at the Times office. The strike, which continued into Tuesday, is the “first to coincide with a presidential election in the NewsGuild since the 1964 Detroit Newspaper Strike,” per the Times Tech Guild.

Striking New York Times tech workers have created a “Guild Builds” page dedicated to strike-themed games you can play, including a spin on Wordle, a word search, and the custom Connections I reported on earlier today.

The New York Times Tech Guild, which makes puzzles for the newspaper among other content, began industrial action this week over what it calls "unfair labour practices".
