Once upon a time, as a superstar receiver, DeAndre Hopkins had the option to sign whomever he wanted as a high-profile free agent. He could’ve joined a championship contender (like, say, the Kansas City Chiefs), but apparently, contenders weren’t willing to pay him what he wanted. That’s totally fair.

That appeared to happen to DeAndre Hopkins while discussing the trade that sent him from the Titans to the two-time defending champion Chiefs. Hopkins, who was dealt to Kansas City on Wednesday, expressed appreciation for his former employer for sending him to what is possibly the most desirable situation in all of sports.

Why wait? That was Chiefs coach Andy Reid’s assessment when asked if newly acquired receiver DeAndre Hopkins would suit up against the Raiders this weekend.
