Foreign investors significantly increased their investments in Indian markets for a second day following the US Federal Reserve’s steeper-than-expected interest rate cut, with Nifty 50 and Sensex hitting record highs on Friday and boosting investor wealth by $7 trillion.

The median Nifty return on the day following a Fed rate announcement (which typically occurs after Indian markets close) is a modest -0.2%. This statistic further highlights the resilience of Indian equities in the face of global economic uncertainty.

Despite the Fed's actions over the past two decades, the Nifty has shown resilience, ending with gains 64% of the time after Fed announcements. However, outliers exist, such as the nearly 7% drop in October 2008 following a rate cut during the global financial crisis.

Nifty-50 index and the Sensex though hit record highs on Thursday, however, ended lower with gains of 0.15% and 0.29%

Sensex and Nifty indices reached all-time highs following the US Federal Reserve's first policy rate cut in over four years. Although both indices peaked during the day, they closed with minor gains.
