INDIANAPOLIS — Lee Kunzman, four-time Indianapolis 500 starter, has died. He was 80. Kunzman died Thursday, Feb. 27, according to a news release from Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Kunzman's best finish in his INDYCAR SERIES career was in 1979, when he placed second at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It was just a narrow loss to winner Johnny Rutherford, IMS officials said.

Lee Kunzman, a distinguished figure in motorsports, passed away on February 27 at the age of 80. Known for his resilience and passion for racing, Kunzman left a lasting legacy through his four appearances in the Indianapolis 500 and his successful career in both INDYCAR and USAC.
