A former Southwest Conference rivalry is rekindled with the matchup of Arkansas and Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl, bringing two great fanbases and programs to the Memphis area for this SEC-Big 12 showdown.

Joey McGuire grew up on the Texas-Arkansas border with his family season-ticket holders for the Razorbacks, a team known locally as the Hogs. The number for his first landline telephone as a teenager literally ended in 1464 — or 1HOG.

Arkansas football faces Texas Tech in this year's Liberty Bowl. Here's our scouring report and a prediction for the Hogs and Red Raiders.

MEMPHIS — Arkansas is seeking its third bowl win in five seasons Friday when it faces Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl. The Razorbacks (6-6) have won both bowl games they've played in during coach Sam Pittman's tenure, including a Liberty Bowl win over Kansas in 2022.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are set to face off against the Arkansas Razorbacks in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, one of college football’s most historic postseason games. Held every year since 1959, the Liberty Bowl has been a staple of the bowl season for years,

The Red Raiders ' 2024 Liberty Bowl appearance marks it fourth consecutive bowl appearance dating back to its 2021 trip to Liberty Bowl when it defeated Mississippi State 34-7. Texas Tech has won each of its last three bowl games, most recently defeating California 34-14 in last season's Independence Bowl.

The Liberty Bowl reunites old Southwest conference foes for the first time in nine years. The last meeting between the two was a 2015 Texas Tech win in Fayetteville with a score of 35-24.
