Independent MLA candidate from Rajasthan’s Tonk district Naresh Meena was arrested on Thursday, a day after he slapped a sub-divisional magistrate during polling leading to high drama action between the villagers and the police.

The bypolls in Tonk, Rajasthan turned violent after Naresh Meena confronted SDM Amit Chaudhary, leading to unrest and 60 arrests. Supporters engaged in stone-pelting and arson, causing extensive damage to vehicles.

Ajmer Range Inspector-General Om Prakash confirmed that nearly 60 people were arrested after the violence on the streets.
